About Derbyshire CCC

Derbyshire County Cricket Club, representing the historic county of Derbyshire, is among the eighteen first-class county clubs in England and Wales. Established in 1870, the club initially held first-class status from 1871 to 1887. In 1895 the team was welcomed into the County Championship. The club also competed as a List A team since the inception of limited overs cricket in 1963 and as a senior Twenty20 team since 2003.

The club's home matches are held at the County Cricket Ground in Derby, formerly known as the Racecourse Ground. They have also utilised other grounds in the past, including Buxton, Chesterfield's Saltergate, Heanor, Ilkeston, Blackwell, Sheffield's Abbeydale Park, Wirksworth, and Burton upon Trent (which is technically in Staffordshire). One-day matches have been played at various locations such as Darley Dale, Repton School, Trent College, Leek, Staffordshire, and Knypersley (also in Staffordshire).

The club has experienced notable success in recent years, achieving record attendances and selling out matches in advance, particularly the local derby against Yorkshire at Chesterfield. In 2017, over 24,000 people attended their home Twenty20 fixtures, setting a new record for a single campaign.

Derbyshire Falcons

The Derbyshire Falcons cricket team is associated with the Derbyshire County Cricket Club. They compete in various formats of the game, including Twenty20 cricket. Formerly known as the Derbyshire Scorpions and the Derbyshire Phantoms, the T20 team was renamed the Derbyshire Falcons in 2010.

The Derbyshire Falcons cricket team primarily competes in the T20 Blast, a thrilling and popular Twenty20 tournament in England. The team has had periods of success in this format, reaching the finals day on a few occasions.

The Incora County Ground

Derbyshire's home ground is the County Ground located in Derby, which has a capacity of around 9,500. The team's playing colours are white and blue, and their logo features a falcon, which represents strength, speed, and agility.

Famous players

Over the years, the team has had several notable players representing them, including Sir Geoffrey Boycott, Eddie Barlow, Kim Barnett, and Devon Malcolm. Former England captain Michael Vaughan also had a stint with Derbyshire early in his career.
